ChatGPT Insights Feed

Gentle Reflections from a Smarter Assistant

Role End-to-end Concept & Experience Designer

Timeline 4-day solo sprint

Overview

This speculative feature imagines an extension to ChatGPT: a personalized feed of reflections, reminders, and saved moments—distilled into elegant, shareable cards. Built in just four days, this prototype showcases a new layer of value drawn from everyday conversations: not more content, but more meaning.

The Opportunity: ChatGPT users often bounce between topics: groceries, job offers, relationship questions, scheduling help. But these fragments add up. They reveal patterns, intentions, and insights. What if ChatGPT could surface those moments—gently and visually—so users could reflect, act, or simply notice?

The Concept: Your Feed

A new feed mode joins the core ChatGPT experience. It offers:

  • Personal insights, saved thoughts, and reminders.

  • Card-based UI, optimized for skimmability and reflection.

  • Gentle nudges, not pushy alerts.

  • Each card is drawn from past interactions: a fragment you saved, a promise you made, a moment you missed.

Interaction Decisions

Before jumping into visual design, I wanted to be sure the new functionality had a rightful place in the app’s architecture. To integrate “Your Feed” into ChatGPT’s existing UX model, I made two key adjustments:

Expanded Mode Switching

The original top-right toggle supported just two states: Chat and Temporary Chat. I replaced it with a drop-down pattern (borrowed from the model picker) to cleanly support three modes: Chat, Your Feed, and Temporary Chat.

Side Panel Integration

I extended the side panel to include “Your Feed Favorites”—a place to quickly access saved insights. This complements the Feed without duplicating it, and aligns with existing patterns like Library and Explore GPTs.

These updates were small but important: they ensured the new feature felt native, not bolted on.

Visual Design Language

While the core ChatGPT app favors a minimal, monochrome UI, this feature borrows from the aesthetics of inspirational posters and editorial layouts. It’s a deliberately expressive departure—reflecting the deeply personal nature of the content.

Typography

  • EB Garamond (primary): classic, generous, literary

  • Playfair Display (optional): expressive and emotional

  • Sora (secondary UI): crisp and modern

Color System

  • Ink, Fog, Charcoal for contrast

Blush Dust, Slate Mist, Rust Accent for softness and mood

Typography: Inter, chosen for its legibility and contemporary feel.

Reflections

This project was designed, prototyped, and narrated in under a week. It wasn’t about edge cases or engineering constraints. It was about vision: what kind of relationship could someone have with ChatGPT if it felt more like a thoughtful companion and less like a blank slate?

The feed isn't a notification system. It's not a dashboard. It's a memory layer. A quietly intelligent, visually humanized space for synthesis, not just output.

Summary

  • Timeline: 4 days

  • Tools:

    • Figma for UI design, prototyping, animation, and interaction flows

    • Adobe Photoshop for image manipulation

    • Adobe Premiere Pro for video editing and voiceover timing

    • ElevenLabs for AI voice narration

    • Pixabay for royalty-free background music

    • ChatGPT for ideation, scriptwriting, and critique

  • Focus: Reflective UI, emotional clarity, delight
